About Us

Modern Slavery Statement

Published in accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (UK).

Our organisation

John Wheatley College is a vocational further education college based in Glasgow, Scotland. This statement sets out the steps we have taken to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place within our organisation or supply chains.

Our supply chains

Our supply chains include placement employer partners, accommodation providers, catering and facilities contractors, and educational resource suppliers. We assess these relationships against ethical employment standards as part of our procurement process.

Due diligence and student protection

All placement employer partners undergo a vetting process before students are placed with them, including checks on fair pay, working hours and workplace safety. We take particular care to protect international students, who may be more vulnerable to exploitation, through pre-placement briefings and ongoing placement monitoring.

Training

Relevant staff receive training to recognise the signs of modern slavery and human trafficking, and understand the appropriate steps to take if concerns arise.

Approval

This statement is reviewed and approved annually by the College's Board of Governors.
