Terms & Conditions
The terms on which we offer places on our programmes. Last updated 12 August 2026.
1. About these terms
These terms apply between you and John Wheatley College when you apply for, and enrol on, one of our vocational training programmes. Please read them before you apply.
2. The programme
We deliver 12-week vocational training programmes, taught in person at our Glasgow campus. Participants who complete a programme receive a John Wheatley College certificate of completion. This is a college certificate recording the training completed; it is not a regulated UK qualification.
3. Eligibility
Programmes are open to applicants aged 18–45 who hold a valid passport and have enough everyday English to take part safely in a practical workshop. We may decline any application.
4. Offers and admission
Successful applicants receive an official course offer letter and supporting enrolment documents that may be used in a Standard Visitor visa application for short-term study in the UK.
An offer is made on the basis of the documents you submit. We may withdraw an offer if any document is found to be fraudulent or materially inaccurate, or if you do not meet the conditions of the offer.
5. Immigration
Visa decisions are made solely by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI). Admission to a course does not guarantee visa approval.
Visitors generally cannot work in the UK while studying on a Standard Visitor visa, whether paid or unpaid.
You are responsible for making your own visa application and for complying with its conditions. We are not a licensed visa sponsor, we do not issue a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies, and we do not provide immigration advice. This programme is short-term vocational training. It does not lead to sponsorship, settlement, or permission to work in the UK, and the College does not guarantee employment.
6. Fees
- Registration Fee — £150. Payable once your invitation letter has been issued, to confirm your place.
- Course Fee — £1,035. Payable after your visa decision, during enrolment.
- Accommodation Fee — £1,650. Payable after your visa decision, during enrolment. Covers accommodation for the entire 12-week course.
The total cost is £2,835. Applying is free. Your visa application fee, travel to and from the UK, food, local travel, insurance and personal spending are not included.
7. Refunds and deferral
Refund entitlement for each fee, including where a visa application is refused, is set out in full in our Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.
8. Accommodation
Accommodation is arranged by the College for the duration of the programme. You are responsible for any damage beyond fair wear and tear, and for complying with the accommodation provider's house rules.
9. Conduct
We may end a participant's enrolment without refund for behaviour that endangers others, for persistent non-attendance, or for a serious breach of workshop safety rules.
10. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise our liability to you is limited to the total fees you have paid.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the Scottish courts have exclusive jurisdiction.
